UNIT OVERVIEW
Employability skills are a combination of personal qualities and essential skills, not necessarily based on formal education that enable individuals to excel in any work environment. Some of these skills are effective communication, problem solving, team spirit, digital literacy and emotional intelligence.
In this unit we will examine how the employment paradigm is shifting and how individuals without formal degrees but with good employability skills can be integrated in the new career opportunities and find a job through alternative pathways such as digital platforms, networking and demonstrating employability skills.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this unit you will be able to:
- Identify Employability Skills.
- Recognise how the employment landscape has changed and what are the new demands from employees.
- Use employability skills to overcome the lack of a degree or formal education.
- Use online platforms for training, evaluation, networking and finding employment.
- Overcome any false pre-conceptions about employment limitations.
